Fundraising Tips

  1. Create a personal fundraising page at www.vcaidspartnership.givezooks.com. This helps you set a goal and write your story – why AIDS is an important cause for you. If you are using the pledge form this is still a good idea so you can share your story.
  2. Be your first donor. It is easier to ask others for support when you have given financial support. It also shows your sponsors that you are committed to the cause.
  3. Ask people who know you—friends, family, coworkers, neighbors—to donate and support you as you raise funds for the cause. You can also send an email or letter.
  4. See if your employer has a matching gift program.
  5. Use social media. Share your givezooks personal fundraising page through Facebook, Twitter, etc. Bloggers, you can write about your fundraising efforts, your AIDS Walk team, or just post information people should know about HIV and AIDS.
  6. Add a short message to your email signature or your voicemail. If you have a website or blog, post a link to www.vcaidswalk.org.
  7. Make business cards, bookmarks, or other small items you can hand out to people.
  8. Create a mini-fundraiser. Hold a bake sale, garage sale, used book sale or fundraising party. If you’re a musician, or you know one, have a benefit concert. If you are walking with a Team, this is a great way to build team spirit and unity.
  9. Create an “extra change in my pocket box” for families are friends to donate their spare change at the end of each day.
  10. Ask your employer to have a Jeans or Casual Day where people can make a donation to your fundraising campaign and dress casual for work.
  11. Think about the places you visit every day: restaurants, grocery stores, doctors’ offices, bars. Talk to the manager to see if the business will donate directly, post flyers, or allow you to place a donation box there.
  12. Make sure you thank your donors!
